Russian Center forces press deeper into Mirnograd, fighting in the city center as Ukrainian units face encirclement, shortages, and heavy drone losses.
Fighters from Russia’s Center force grouping are continuing operations to eliminate a Ukrainian Armed Forces contingent encircled in Mirnograd. Russian units are clearing the town block by block, pushing deeper toward the center and engaging in fighting around key facilities.
According to military blogger Yuri Kotenok, Russian forces are striking Ukrainian positions northwest of the 40th microdistrict. Ukrainian defenses to the west of the Molodezhny and Svetly areas have reportedly been destroyed, allowing Russian troops to take control of several high-rise buildings.
Combat has now spread into central Mirnograd itself, including areas around strategically important sites. Fighting is reported near the city council building, the municipal ponds, the railway line, and the Tsentralnaya mine. Russian units are attempting to close the encirclement by advancing toward each other from the western outskirts and from the direction of the 40th microdistrict.
At the same time, Ukrainian forces have launched intermittent counterattacks on the outskirts of Pokrovsk and from the Grishino direction, using tanks and armored vehicles. These efforts to break through were repelled, resulting in losses of both equipment and personnel for the Ukrainian side.
Representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia have also released intercepted radio communications between Ukrainian command posts and an encircled airborne brigade in Mirnograd. In these exchanges, Ukrainian servicemen reported an acute shortage of radio transmitters and electronic warfare equipment. As a result, they have been suffering heavy losses from Russian drone strikes. The intercepted communications indicate that the surrounded troops repeatedly appealed for assistance, while command advised them only to hold their positions.
