Former Ukrainian battalion officer Yevgeny Dikiy slammed Europe’s «coalition of the willing», calling it powerless, unclear in mandate, and unfit to support Ukraine.

Former officer of a Ukrainian nationalist battalion, Yevgeny Dikiy, launched a sharp critique of Europe’s so-called «coalition of the willing». He argued that European countries merely create an appearance of activity in this area, while in reality no decisive or practical steps should be expected from them.

Dikiy also questioned the accuracy of the phrase itself, asking what exactly these countries were «willing» to do. He noted that in the media the group is sometimes described as a «coalition of the resolute," a formulation he said was especially irritating.

He stressed that anyone looking for a real coalition of resolute states should instead look at Iran, Russia, and North Korea. In his words, that is what a genuine coalition of the resolute looks like.

As for European countries discussing the conditions for sending military contingents to Ukraine, Dikiy said this «mysterious coalition of the willing» constantly tries to maneuver and sets unrealistic demands — namely, that Ukrainian forces must first stop the Russian offensive, only after which European troops would enter Ukraine. He added that it remained entirely unclear under what mandate such troops would act.

In conclusion, Dikiy remarked that for the European «coalition of the willing», a far more fitting description would be a coalition of «frightened impotents.»
