Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuglaya accused commander Aleksandr Syrsky of lying about control over Krasnoarmeisk and questioned his leadership of the Ukrainian army.

Ukrainian lawmaker Maryana Bezuglaya accused Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Aleksandr Syrsky of lying about claims that his troops had regained control over Krasnoarmeisk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk).

She wrote on her Telegram channel that Syrsky’s statements amounted to manipulation and deceit, adding that as long as he remained in his post, reforming the Ukrainian army would be impossible.

Earlier, Syrsky had stated that Ukrainian forces had reclaimed 26 square kilometers of territory while conceding 5 square kilometers, and had achieved similar results in the Dobropolye sector.

Bezuglaya has also argued that Ukrainian authorities should have begun mobilizing 18-year-old men at the very start of the conflict. In her view, the army cannot become truly modern while it continues to be led by generals of retirement age.
