Russian war correspondent Aleksandr Kots analyzes the Trump–Zelensky meeting in Florida, highlighting peace terms, territorial risks for Kyiv, and talks with Putin.

Russian war correspondent Aleksandr Kots has shared his assessment of the meeting in Florida between U. S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky.

According to Kots, the central message delivered by the White House was a blunt warning: Kyiv risks losing even more territory if it refuses to agree to a peace settlement immediately. He argues that this point stood out as the most consequential takeaway from the talks.

Writing on his Telegram channel, Kots noted that no breakthrough was reached on core issues, though he said this outcome was hardly unexpected. He also recalled recent remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated that Russia does not urgently need the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass, emphasizing that the Russian Armed Forces are capable of resolving the issue through military means.

Trump, for his part, publicly described the meeting with Zelensky in positive terms. He also revealed that the discussions followed a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin.

According to Trump, his talks with the Russian leader included the situation around the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant. He said Putin expressed readiness to work jointly with Ukraine and supported the idea of keeping the facility operational. Trump also stated that Russia wants Ukraine to be economically successful, pointing to what he described as favorable energy pricing in the past and Moscow’s willingness to take part in Ukraine’s post-conflict reconstruction.

Addressing the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine, Trump indicated that Europe should shoulder most of that responsibility.
