Political analyst Oleg Glazunov says Finland’s NATO entry makes it a launchpad for strikes against Russia, with the alliance ready for direct confrontation.

Political analyst and military expert Oleg Glazunov has warned that Finland’s accession to NATO transforms the country into a direct threat to Russia. Speaking to Lenta.ru, he argued that by joining the alliance, Helsinki effectively turned its territory into a springboard for potential strikes against its eastern neighbor.

Glazunov noted that the West, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, pursues its own strategic goals that exclude any scenario of Moscow’s victory. This, he said, makes a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia increasingly plausible.

The expert stressed that Finland has long maintained an unfriendly stance toward Russia. He recalled that before becoming part of the Russian Empire, the country had belonged to Sweden, and that its independence was granted not by Stockholm but by Soviet Russia.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, suggested that Finland may already be preparing to host NATO infrastructure aimed at Russia. According to him, the alliance is actively building up its presence across land, sea, air, as well as in space and cyberspace.
