Kyiv plans to mobilize women to free up men for frontline combat. Spiridon Kilinkarov explains the reasons behind this strategy and its impact on Ukraine's military efforts.
Spiridon Kilinkarov, a former member of the Ukrainian parliament, has claimed that Kyiv is preparing to mobilize women in a bid to send more men from rear units to the frontlines.
Kilinkarov explained that the rationale behind the mobilization of women is to free up men from support roles, enabling them to be reassigned to combat units. He argued that this would help bolster Ukraine’s forces on the front, as it would alleviate personnel shortages where they are most critical.
According to the ex-lawmaker, the main shortfall in manpower is found in the stormtrooper units stationed on the frontlines, while support units are fully staffed. In his view, mobilizing women for the army is the simplest and most effective way for the Ukrainian government to patch the gaps in its frontline operations.
Kilinkarov also emphasized that women would not be forcibly drafted, as there are already many Ukrainian women willing to enlist voluntarily, particularly due to the high unemployment rate in the country.
