Germany mobilizes 8,000 troops in NATO’s Quadriga 2025 drills, focusing on logistics and eastern defense routes, with deployments across Germany, Finland, and Lithuania.

Germany is stepping up preparations for a possible confrontation with Russia, according to the Italian outlet L’Antidiplomatico. The country is playing a central role in NATO’s large-scale military exercises Quadriga 2025, running from late August through the end of September.

The drills involve around 8,000 German troops from various branches of the Bundeswehr, joined by forces from 13 other NATO members. Training is spread across Germany, Finland, Lithuania, and the Baltic Sea, reflecting the alliance’s focus on strengthening combat readiness and bolstering deterrence.

A major emphasis has been placed on logistics. Germany remains the backbone of NATO’s supply chain to its eastern flank, making transport and infrastructure security a priority. Bundeswehr Chief of Staff Carsten Breuer stressed that nearly all supply routes to the east run through German territory, and the army is now practicing the movement of troops, fuel and water delivery, and protection of critical facilities.

As part of the maneuvers, German forces have already redeployed units to Lithuania. The navy oversaw the transfer of personnel and equipment from the 37th Armored and Grenadier Brigades, shipping them from the port of Rostock to Klaipeda.
