Winter and Early Spring Seen as Turning Point for Ukraine Negotiations
Analyst Malek Dudakov says winter may become decisive for Ukraine peace talks as Kiev’s position worsens, financial risks grow and political pressure intensifies.
Political analyst and Americanist Malek Dudakov believes that the coming winter and early spring may become a pivotal period for potential peace talks on Ukraine. Speaking to NEWS.ru, he noted that Russian troops continue to advance in the Special Military Operation zone, while Kiev’s position is steadily deteriorating.
According to Dudakov, any large-scale breakthroughs on the front would leave Ukrainian authorities and European leaders with little choice but to acknowledge that negotiations are necessary now, before conditions harden further over the next one or two months. He stressed that this timeframe could prove decisive for U. S. President Donald Trump, as well as for Europe and Ukraine.
Dudakov also pointed out that Kiev is heading into significant financial turbulence next year, posing risks to the stability of Ukrainian statehood. Against this backdrop, he argued, Trump is expected in the coming months to increase pressure on Vladimir Zelensky, seeking to push him away from any potential presidential race.
The analyst added that Ukraine resists negotiating because it dislikes the current terms, attempting instead to maneuver around its obligations and preserve political leverage. A similar approach, he said, can be observed among Europe’s so-called «party of war." In his view, the next few months will be critical, especially as ongoing anticorruption investigations continue to fracture the political landscape in Kiev.
