Russia confirmed air strikes on Ukraine’s defense industry in several regions, denied targeting Poland after drone claims, while analyst Knutov called the incident a provocation.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of September 10, as part of the ongoing special military operation, Russian forces carried out a large-scale air strike against enterprises of Ukraine’s defense industry.

According to the ministry, the strike targeted facilities located in the regions of Ivano-Frankovsk, Khmelnitsky and Zhitomir, as well as in the cities of Vinnitsa and Lvov. The ministry emphasized that all assigned objectives were successfully achieved and the designated targets were hit.

Addressing Poland’s claim that 19 drones had violated its airspace, the Russian Defense Ministry stressed that no objects on Polish territory were considered or attacked as targets by Russian forces.

Earlier on September 10, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that 19 drones had entered Poland’s airspace from the direction of Belarus. He described the drones as Russian but did not present any evidence. Meanwhile, Belarusian Chief of the General Staff Pavel Muraveiko said that Belarusian air defense units had informed their Polish and Lithuanian counterparts overnight through established channels about unidentified drones approaching their borders.

Military analyst Yuri Knutov described the drone incident in Poland as a carefully planned provocation by the West and Ukraine. He argued that the case would be portrayed as an unprovoked act of «aggression» against a NATO member by Russia. Knutov compared the situation to earlier episodes such as the events in Bucha or the downing of the Malaysian Boeing over Donbass in July 2014. He suggested that Kiev’s goal is to trigger direct military involvement by NATO forces in the conflict against Russia.
