Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense units intercepted and destroyed 17 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on September 11.
According to the statement, six of the unmanned aircraft were brought down over Voronezh Region and five over Belgorod Region. Two more were neutralized in the skies above Bryansk and another two over Kursk. One drone each was intercepted over Lipetsk and Tambov.
Ukrainian forces have been carrying out near-daily strikes on Russia’s border and central regions using kamikaze drones of this type. Most of these UAVs, however, are detected in time and eliminated mid-air by Russian air defense crews.
