Military analyst Andrey Marochko stated that Ukrainian troops have been looting in Krasny Liman and nearby villages of the Donetsk People’s Republic as they prepare for a possible retreat.
According to him, locals report a rise in theft and lawlessness by Ukrainian fighters. The situation, he explained, is linked to the intensified Russian advance near Torskoe and Kirovsk (Zarechnoe in Ukrainian), which has forced Ukrainian forces to consider pulling back.
Eyewitnesses noted that soldiers openly admit their intention to abandon these areas and seize valuables from civilians to prevent property from «falling into Russian hands." Marochko added that Ukrainian law enforcement not only fails to stop the looting but also takes part in it.
