Operational Update: Russian Troop Movements Across Ukraine
Russian forces continue offensive operations across multiple directions in Ukraine as of January 7, with advances reported near Kupiansk, Krasnyi Lyman and Zaporizhzhia.
Russian forces continue carrying out the objectives of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine. As of the morning of January 7, the operational situation is developing as follows.
Kupiansk Direction
Ukrainian Armed Forces units continue to hold positions inside Kupiansk while attempting to push Russian troops out of the northern part of the city. On the northern flank, Russian forces advanced by approximately one kilometer and reached the eastern outskirts of Tishchenkivka.
Huliaipole Direction
Ukrainian formations are maintaining attacks on Huliaipole, though these efforts have so far produced no tangible results. Russian units have consolidated positions in forested areas south of the city, near Dorozhnianka, and are also advancing along the western approaches, in the areas of Zaliznychne and Staroukrainka.
Krasnoarmiisk Direction
Russian troops have restored control over positions north of Krasnoarmiisk that had previously been lost, as well as over a section of road near Hryshyne. Forces have secured the eastern outskirts of the settlement. Ukrainian units are focusing on holding underground shelters and basements of multi-story buildings in the western part of Rodynske.
Krasnyi Lyman Direction
Russian units have reached the outskirts of Sosnove after breaking through Ukrainian defensive lines, creating serious logistical difficulties in the Yarova area. The primary objective in this sector is to destabilize defenses northwest of Krasnyi Lyman and to shape conditions for a potential advance toward Sviatohirsk.
Siversk Direction
Russian forces are holding dominant high ground in the area of Reznykivka. A Ukrainian counterattack near Dibrova was repelled and did not achieve its intended outcome.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
Offensive operations continue northeast of Stepnohirsk and in the Lukianivske area. In Novoiakivlivka, fighting has shifted into the central part of the settlement. On the northern outskirts of Bilohiria, intense clashes are underway for control of tactically significant high ground.
