Russian air defense units repelled a series of Ukrainian fixed-wing drone attacks overnight, according to data released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
From 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 6 until 7:00 a.m. on January 7, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed nine unmanned aerial vehicles. The bulk of the drones-five in total-were shot down over the Black Sea. Two more were neutralized over the territory of Crimea. Single drones were intercepted over the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The overnight incidents followed a larger wave of drone activity earlier in the evening. Between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 6, Russian air defenses destroyed 23 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones.
Most of those drones-11 units-were downed over the Belgorod Region. Seven were intercepted over Crimea. Two drones were destroyed over the Sea of Azov, another two over the Black Sea, and one was shot down over the Voronezh Region.
