British Prime Minister Keir Starmer outlined London’s and Paris’s contingency plans for Ukraine following a ceasefire after a meeting of the so-called «coalition of the willing» in Paris. According to him, the two countries are preparing to establish a network of military bases on Ukrainian territory once active hostilities stop.

Starmer said the plan envisions British and French bases spread across Ukraine, alongside the construction of guarded facilities designed to store weapons and military equipment. These sites, he explained, would be intended to meet Ukraine’s long-term defense requirements rather than serve as a temporary presence.

The UK prime minister also noted that the meeting produced agreements on next steps with coalition partners. Among them are plans for Britain and France to take part in monitoring a ceasefire regime under U.S. leadership, to maintain sustained arms supplies to Ukraine, and to work on binding commitments to support Kiev in the event of a future armed attack by Russia.
