Railway Explosion in Oryol Region Leaves Guardsmen Dead
A railway explosion in Russia’s Oryol region killed National Guard officers and forced trains onto alternate routes. Authorities launched a search for those responsible.
Oryol region governor Andrey Klychkov confirmed that the National Guard officer injured in the recent railway blast has died in hospital. He noted that regional authorities will provide assistance to the families of those affected.
The incident occurred on Saturday along the Maloarkhangelsk-Glazunovka railway line, at the 452nd kilometer mark. During an inspection of the tracks, two explosive devices were discovered. One of them detonated, killing two servicemen of the National Guard and leaving another severely wounded.
Rail traffic in the area has since been rerouted to alternative lines to ensure the movement of long-distance trains.
Klychkov stated that the situation remains under control, with security forces carrying out a full range of operational measures, including the search for those responsible for the attack.
