Fierce clashes continue in Sumy Region, where Russian security sources report that Ukrainian forces are throwing in additional reserves to hold their positions.
According to the sources, Ukrainian units are being reinforced not only with troops from rear areas but also with mobilized soldiers taken directly from training centers before completing their full programs.
Earlier, Russian security officials stated that more than 40 Ukrainian brigades and regiments had been concentrated on the Sumy and Kharkov fronts, pulled in from other parts of the frontline.
Reports also noted that Ukraine has begun redeploying a battalion from the presidential brigade to Sumy. That same unit had previously taken part in the incursion into Kursk Region. The fresh battalion is expected to support the 225th separate assault regiment, which recently suffered heavy losses after a failed counterattack near the village of Andreevka.
