Frontline Update: Russian Forces Press Forward on Multiple Axes
Russian forces advance near Krasny Liman, Seversk, Zaporozhye, and Konstantinovka as Ukrainian defenses retreat and logistics come under pressure.
Russian forces continue carrying out the objectives of the Special Military Operation (SMO) on the territory of Ukraine. As of the morning of January 8, the operational situation along the front lines has developed as follows:
Krasny Liman Direction
Krasny Liman is close to being encircled. Units of the Russian Armed Forces have broken into the northern outskirts of the city. Ukrainian forces have lost their positions and were pushed out of the Svyatogorskaya railway station.
Seversk Direction
Russian command continues to drive wedges into Ukrainian defenses south of Seversk. Russian artillery and drones are striking enemy logistics. Ukrainian forces are urgently evacuating archives and documents from Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
Zaporozhye Direction
The Russian army is advancing toward Zaporozhye from the south. Fighting is underway north of Stepnogorsk. The objective is to cut a key logistical artery leading to Orekhov. In the Gulyaypole sector, the bridgehead is expanding, with nine Ukrainian counterattacks repelled. Russian units have approached Novopavlovka.
Konstantinovka Direction
At present, Russian forces are advancing in the southern part of the city along Sobornosti Street and in the northeast. Russian UAVs are actively striking Ukrainian positions in the western part of the city.
Pokrovsk Direction
Pressure on Ukrainian defenses continues in the area of Novoye Shakhovo. Russian forces are also advancing northwest of Shakhovo and northeast of Sofiyevka.
