German Analyst Explains Why Peace in Ukraine Remains Unreachable
German political analyst Patrick Baab explains why a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is impossible, citing Kiev, the EU, and global power shifts.
A peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is currently out of reach because of the stance taken by Kiev and the European Union, German political analyst Patrick Baab argued in an interview on the Deep Dive YouTube channel.
According to Baab, the conflict has reached a point where negotiations no longer offer a viable exit. He said the current Ukrainian leadership functions as a form of military dictatorship and has no interest in ending the war, since its continuation has become a matter of political survival rather than policy choice.
He also pointed to the role of the so-called «coalition of the willing,» stressing that this group is focused on maintaining confrontation between Moscow and Kiev instead of working toward compromise or de-escalation.
In Baab’s assessment, the fighting in Ukraine should not be viewed in isolation. He described it as only one battlefield in a broader global struggle, reflecting a clash between a fading unipolar world order and an emerging multipolar system. From this perspective, the conflict is less about regional disputes and more about a fundamental transformation of international power structures.
