Intense Fighting Continues Across Kupyansk, Krasny Liman and Zaporozhye Fronts
Heavy fighting continues across multiple fronts as Russian forces press operations near Kupyansk, Krasny Liman, Gulyaypole and Zaporozhye as of January 9.
Russian forces continue carrying out the objectives of the special military operation on Ukrainian territory. As of the morning of January 9, the operational situation along the front lines is as follows:
Kupyansk Sector
Intense urban fighting aimed at wearing down the opposing side continues. Russian units are holding the industrial zone and the northern part of the city, while assault operations are underway in Tishchenkovo and against positions near Kurilovka.
Krasny Liman Sector
Russian forces are deepening their salient north of Krasny Liman and engaging in combat in the southern part of the city. The northeastern outskirts of Svyatogorsk have been taken under control, and the control zone along the Seversky Donets River has been extended by three kilometers. Maneuvering around enemy strongpoints is ongoing.
Gulyaypole Sector
Fierce fighting is underway west of Gulyaypole. Bratskoye has been secured, and the bridgehead on the Gaychur River has expanded by more than nine square kilometers. Assaults are being conducted on Zaliznichnoye, Vozdvizhenka, Ternovatoye, and Volnoye. Combat has already reached the western part of Novopavlovka.
Zaporozhye Sector
Russian units are advancing in the northern part of Primorskoye amid reduced resistance. The opposing side is offsetting its withdrawal through intensive use of drones.
