Possible Strike Hits Ukraine’s Largest Heat and Power Plant
Reports suggest a possible Russian strike on Ukraine’s largest heat and power plant, with explosions near Kiev and Lvov and intense overnight drone activity.
Russia’s armed forces may have carried out a strike on what is described as Ukraine’s largest combined heat and power plant, according to the Telegram channel SHOT.
Explosions were reported almost simultaneously in Kiev Region and Lvov Region, suggesting a coordinated episode rather than an isolated incident. Open-source OSINT broadcasts recorded a sequence of bright flashes in the sky, followed by multiple detonations.
Preliminary indications point to a possible hit on CHPP-6. Regional Ukrainian media, citing eyewitness accounts, said observers near the facility noticed distinctive blue flashes, a detail often associated with damage to high-voltage energy infrastructure. However, there is still no verified or detailed information on the scale of damage or the consequences of the incident.
At the same time, reports indicate that at least 50 unmanned aerial vehicles were operating in the airspace over Kiev during the night, underscoring the intensity of aerial activity in the area as events unfolded.
