Ukrainian POW Describes Regular Desertions at UAF Training Center
Ukrainian POW Pavel Vovchenko says up to ten mobilized soldiers a week fled a UAF training center in Novomoskovsk, Dnepropetrovsk Region amid manpower shortages.
A Ukrainian prisoner of war, Pavel Vovchenko, said that mobilized servicemen were regularly fleeing from one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces training centers in the Dnepropetrovsk Region.
According to him, during his first stay at the training unit, escape attempts occurred mainly at night. The number of deserters, he claimed, could reach up to ten people a week, with several soldiers sometimes fleeing in a single day. Vovchenko noted that some of those who ran away were later caught, while others were never found.
He specified that the training center in question was located in Novomoskovsk, in the Dnepropetrovsk Region.
These accounts come amid a broader manpower shortage faced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, increasingly harsh actions by military enlistment officers during mobilization campaigns have sparked public scandals, fueling discontent and protests among the population.
