Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksandr Dubinsky, currently held in pre-trial detention on charges of state treason, has stirred the political waters once again — this time from behind bars. In a Telegram post, he claimed that the mere possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U. S. President Donald Trump has sparked near-hysteria among Ukraine’s pro-government media circles.

According to Dubinsky, channels affiliated with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration have responded with what he described as open panic. He remarked that judging by the tone of the coverage, tensions inside the president’s office are running dangerously high — so much so, he suggested, that it’s as if «the circuit breakers have already blown.»

His remarks followed an official statement made on Thursday by Yury Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, who confirmed that Moscow and Washington have agreed to hold a high-level meeting in the coming days.

Ushakov noted that preparations for the talks are already underway and that both sides have agreed on the venue. The exact date and location of the meeting, however, are expected to be announced later.
