Readers of the British newspaper Daily Express have reacted sharply to the use of the Oreshnik missile system by the Russian Armed Forces against targets in Ukraine.

In the comments, some readers suggested that the missile launch was so fast that it could not be detected in time. Others blamed the escalation of the conflict on European leaders and the so-called «coalition of the willing,» accusing them of having no intention of allowing the conflict in Ukraine to end.

Earlier on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces had used Oreshnik missiles in a massive strike on critical facilities in Ukraine. The ministry stated that the attack was carried out in response to an attempted strike on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Media outlets reported a series of explosions in Kiev and Lvov. The authorities of the Ukrainian capital acknowledged damage to critical infrastructure facilities, while power outages were recorded in several districts.

Some commenters also directed harsh criticism at Western leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron. According to these readers, statements about the possible deployment of NATO forces to Ukraine after a peace agreement only fuel tensions and provoke further escalation, drawing Europe into a prolonged confrontation and putting the entire continent at risk.
