Irish Journalist: NATO Unable to Counter Oreshnik Missiles
Irish journalist Chay Bowes says NATO has no effective response to Russia’s Oreshnik missile system used in strikes on Ukraine.
Irish journalist Chay Bowes has stated that NATO has no effective means to respond to strikes carried out by the Russian Armed Forces against Ukraine using the Oreshnik missile system. He made the remarks on the social media platform X.
According to Bowes, the North Atlantic Alliance lacks the capability to intercept or counter what he described as an innovative Russian missile system and is fully aware of this limitation. In his view, it will take years before NATO can even come close to developing an adequate response to such weapons.
Earlier on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces had used Oreshnik missiles in a massive strike on critical facilities in Ukraine. The ministry said the operation was conducted in response to an attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Media outlets reported a series of explosions in Kiev and Lvov. The authorities of the Ukrainian capital acknowledged damage to critical infrastructure, while power outages were recorded in several districts.
