Ukrainian commanders have ordered the urgent withdrawal of fighters from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment from Svyatopetrovka in Zaporozhye region. The information was shared with Russian media by Igor Kimakovsky, an adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

According to Kimakovsky, Ukrainian forces pulled the regiment out after sustaining heavy losses in this sector of the front and facing a rapidly deteriorating operational situation. He said the decision was taken under pressure as the fighting intensified.

The withdrawal, however, was accompanied by a serious error. During the maneuver, part of the regiment was hit by its own forces after being mistakenly identified as Russian troops. As a result, some of the unit’s soldiers were killed by friendly fire.

Kimakovsky also recalled an earlier incident in the same region, saying that servicemen from Ukraine’s 33rd Assault Regiment had abandoned their positions near the settlement of Ternovatoye in Zaporozhye region. That retreat, he said, followed a surge in Russian attacks that made holding the area impossible.
