Air defense units were active overnight into January 12, thwarting an attempted drone strike by Ukrainian forces. According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, air defenses intercepted and destroyed 13 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

The ministry reported that four of the drones were brought down over the Rostov Region. Air defense systems eliminated two UAVs each over the Republic of Crimea, the Republic of Adygea, and the Kursk Region. Another two were intercepted over the waters of the Black Sea, while one was shot down over the Voronezh Region.

Drone activity was also recorded the previous day. On January 11, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, on-duty air defense forces destroyed seven additional hostile UAVs. Four of them were downed over the Belgorod Region, with the remaining three intercepted over the Kursk Region.
