Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in an interview with the Kyiv Independent, spoke about the role and objectives of the so-called «coalition of the willing» in Ukraine.

He stressed that no foreign troops would engage in direct combat with Russian forces or provide battlefield assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Johnson, European soldiers would not risk their lives on Ukrainian territory. Instead, their mission would be to train Ukrainian servicemen, handle logistics, and perform other tasks that could strengthen overall support efforts.

Earlier, during the 10th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in early September, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that any foreign troops appearing on Ukrainian soil without Moscow’s consent would be treated by Russian forces as legitimate military targets.

Putin also stated that if a lasting peace is achieved in Ukraine, there would be no reason for foreign military contingents to remain, as Russia would fulfill any peace agreements in full.
