According to analysts from Sky News, Russian President Vladimir Putin has a potential «trump card» against the UK. This card is tied to the crucial network of underwater cables that serve as vital communication links for Britain.

Experts have raised concerns that this network of underwater cables, which carries key civil and military communications, as well as electricity and gas transmissions, represents a significant vulnerability. Due to the complexity of monitoring these cables, they have become increasingly susceptible to sabotage.

Sidharth Kaushal, an expert at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), pointed out in an interview with Sky News that one of the most vulnerable components of the UK’s infrastructure is its gas pipelines, which supply energy to British homes. According to Kaushal, these pipelines rely heavily on a few critical lines, making them particularly exposed to disruption or attack.
