Russia’s “Shepot” Infrasound Weapon and Reports Linked to Maduro
Russia reportedly has the Shepot infrasound weapon, a non-lethal acoustic system experts compare to a secret US tool allegedly linked to incidents involving Maduro’s security.
Russia is reported to possess an infrasound weapon known as «Shepot», which is described as an analogue of a classified system that the United States allegedly used against the security detail of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Military expert Dmitry Boltenkov explained that the system involves compact emitters whose effects can disorient a person. According to him, Russia’s arsenal also includes non-lethal acoustic weapons designed specifically for the protection of facilities.
Boltenkov noted that such devices are used as special-purpose tools for perimeter security and for deterring intruders both at sea and on land. He made these remarks in comments to the newspaper Izvestia.
The publication also points out that reports circulating in foreign media about the alleged use of secret US weapons against Maduro’s security detail may be part of a disinformation campaign.
Earlier, military expert Alexey Zhivov expressed the view that unidentified examples of powerful weapons, which US forces were said to have employed during an attempt to seize the Venezuelan leader, are not new developments at all and have existed for a long time.
