Russian sources report Ukraine’s 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade lost its final combat-ready battalion in Kharkov after heavy losses and a missile strike.
The 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has lost its last combat-ready battalion in heavy fighting in the Kharkov region, according to Russian security sources.
Officials reported that the brigade’s 42nd battalion suffered devastating losses over the past day, its strength reduced to the size of a single platoon, effectively stripping it of combat capability.
A representative of the security services told TASS that with this blow, the 57th Brigade no longer has any fully functioning battalions left.
In addition, a missile strike destroyed the brigade’s special company base, which had included former convicts among its personnel.
Earlier reports indicated that the command of the 57th Brigade had ordered that wounded soldiers not be evacuated from forward positions along the Kharkov front.
