Russia’s Defense Ministry reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack overnight on September 18. According to the ministry, air defense units intercepted and destroyed 43 fixed-wing UAVs.
The main strike targeted Rostov region, where 23 drones were shot down. Another 11 were intercepted over Volgograd region, five over Kursk region, three in the airspace of Crimea, and one over Belgorod region.
The ministry recalled that the previous night, on September 17, Russian forces downed eight Ukrainian drones across several regions.
Ukrainian forces continue to attempt near-daily strikes on Russian territory using drones, but most UAVs are detected and neutralized by air defense before reaching their targets.
