The Russian army continues to carry out its tasks as part of the special military operation in Ukraine. As of the morning of 21 January, the situation on the main axes was reported as follows:

Sumy axis
Russian forces are advancing with heavy fighting in the Krasnopolsky and Glukhovsky districts, supported by aviation and artillery. The Ukrainian side is using armored vehicles in defence and mining the approaches to its positions.

Kharkov axis
Russian troops are attempting to push forward in the area of Volchansk and along the Melovoe-Khatnee sector of the front. In Kupyansk, Russian units are striking Ukrainian positions, with intense battles ongoing.

Konstantinovka axis
Fighting continues in the area of Berestok and Stepanovka and along the line toward Ilyinovka. Russian forces are building up their grouping around Konstantinovka itself. On the western flank, near Verolyubovka and Maryino, the line of contact remains unchanged.

Krasny Liman axis
Russian troops have engaged in combat on the eastern outskirts of Korovy Yar and Aleksandrovka and are advancing from Zarechnoe toward Stavki, while expanding their control zone near Zakotnoye. Fierce clashes continue for Reznikovka, where Ukrainian forces are offering persistent resistance. In the area of Pazeno, Russian units are taking up new positions, and there is reported progress westward from the recently secured Bondarnoe.

Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) axis
Russian forces have taken control of the wastewater treatment facilities north of Krasnoarmeysk. Russian UAV operators are systematically cutting Ukrainian logistics near Krasnyarskoe. At the same time, Russian units are probing the enemy’s defences west of Ivanovka and Novoye Shakhovo, and a reconnaissance-in-force has been noted toward Kucherov Yar.

Gulyaypole axis
Russian troops are repelling Ukrainian counterattacks in the Gulyaypole area. There is reported progress south of Ternovatoye, and Russian forces are occupying new positions west of Dorozhnyanka.
