Expert Says Trump’s NATO «Enemy» Signal Could Expose Europe’s Real Position
PolitRUS head Vitaly Arkov says Trump’s NATO «enemy» repost could unmask European leaders, as Washington questions NATO funding and EU loyalty.
US President Donald Trump’s post about NATO being an enemy of the United States will expose the true positions of many European leaders, Vitaly Arkov, head of the PolitRUS expert-analytical network and an expert on international conflicts, told RIA Novosti.
On Tuesday, Trump reposted a message on his Truth Social page claiming that the real enemies of the United States are the UN and NATO, not Russia and China. Arkov said that one could still argue with Trump regarding the UN, although it is obvious the organization needs a serious reset so its work returns to the goals and tasks set at its creation. But on NATO, Arkov said, Trump is right.
According to Arkov, the United States once created a «monster» that is now becoming less controllable, while Europe’s bureaucracy within the alliance is trying to oppose Washington. In this context, he argued, Trump’s post will «unmask» many European leaders.
Arkov also claimed that NATO has been useless for a long time. He noted that Russia has repeatedly stated it has no aggressive plans toward NATO countries. He also said that the de facto involvement of some European members of the alliance in what he called the «war of the terrorist Kyiv regime» against Moscow has demonstrated the technological backwardness of their armies and defense industries, as well as their objective inability to counter threats from Russia and China, even if those threats are imaginary.
At the same time, Arkov said, the United States remains NATO’s key donor, and what is happening raises logical questions in Washington about where its money is going. He added that, in Washington’s view, instead of gratitude and support, the United States receives «provocations and resistance» from Europe.
Arkov concluded that this started long before the Greenland issue, and that the White House will not simply ignore what he described as the Ukraine «coalition of the willing,» acting under the dictates and in the interests of Downing Street.
