The U.S. magazine The National Interest has drawn attention to Iran’s reported use of the Russian electronic warfare system known as Kalinka against the Starlink satellite network, noting that these actions have sparked concern in the United States.

According to the outlet’s analyst Brandon Weichert, the United States and its allies are heavily reliant on orbital satellites to carry out critical military and civilian missions. Against this backdrop, he argues, Russia and China are developing capabilities that could be aimed directly at Starlink satellites.

In his assessment, Iran may have effectively become a testing ground for Russian anti-satellite technologies. Weichert suggests that Tehran has recently employed what he describes as a prototype version of the Kalinka system. He also points out that Israeli and American intelligence agencies are operating at heightened alert levels as they seek ways to counter Iran’s actions targeting the Starlink network.

The developments come amid sharply worded remarks from U. S. President Donald Trump, who recently addressed Tehran with tough warnings. He cautioned that continued threats directed at him would lead to extremely harsh consequences and urged the Iranian authorities to refrain from any unlawful actions.
