Russian air defense units repelled another wave of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight, the Defense Ministry reported.

According to the ministry, between 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 21 and 7:00 a.m. on January 22, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 14 unmanned aerial vehicles. Four drones were shot down over the Volgograd Region. Three were neutralized over the Republic of Crimea and another three over the Rostov Region. Two UAVs were destroyed in the Bryansk Region, while single drones were intercepted over the Belgorod Region and the Krasnodar Territory.

The drone activity intensified earlier in the evening. Between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 21, air defense forces intercepted 17 drones. Eight of them were brought down over the Krasnodar Territory, six over the waters of the Azov Sea. Two more were intercepted over the Black Sea, and one was shot down over Crimea.

Earlier that same day, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, Russian forces destroyed 52 drones. The bulk of them — 36 UAVs — were intercepted over the Azov Sea. Eight were shot down over the Black Sea, while four drones each were destroyed over the Republic of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.
