Jan 23 Situation Report: Krasny Liman, Kupyansk and Zaporozhye
Jan 23 frontline update: intensified fighting near Svyatogorsk and Kupyansk, Russian advances reported on several directions, positional battles continue.
The Russian army continues carrying out the tasks of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine. As of the morning of January 23, the operational situation is as follows:
Krasny Liman direction
Fighting is intensifying in the areas of Svyatogorsk, Yarovaya, and Sosnovoe. Russian forces are advancing from Drobyshevo. The southern part of Stavki has been cleared, and clashes are shifting toward the outskirts and urban infrastructure. Pressure on the enemy’s defenses is increasing across the entire sector.
Gulyaypole direction
Ukrainian counterattacks have not succeeded. Russian forces are steadily pushing through defenses along the western bank of the Gaychur River, with heavy fighting on the approaches to Ternovatoye. The initiative remains with Russian troops.
Zaporozhye direction
Russian units are pressing the enemy in the Primorskoye area, advancing to the north and east. The shoreline of the reservoir is being used to strike Ukrainian positions. Near Orekhov, positional fighting continues.
Konstantinovka direction
Positional battles continue on the flanks, while inside the city Russian forces are expanding their control zone. Advances are reported near the railway junction and the industrial area. The enemy’s defenses are gradually being compressed.
Kupyansk direction
The situation remains difficult. Fighting is taking place in central Kupyansk, while the enemy is counterattacking on both banks of the Oskol River. Russian forces are striking crossings, depriving Ukrainian forces of the ability to quickly move reserves.
