The Telegram channel Mash reported that around 3,000 Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) troops in Konstantinovka in the DPR are, according to its claims, at risk of freezing after being surrounded by Russian forces, with soldiers reportedly surrendering in large numbers.

According to Mash, more than 100 fighters from Ukraine’s 156th Brigade have already laid down their arms because they are unable to keep warm. The channel claims AFU command left the troops without food and water.

Russian military sources cited in the report say the remaining AFU troops are trying to stay warm using diesel heaters in the southern parts of the city, but the heat signature gives away their positions. After detection, the buildings are reportedly hit with aerial bombs.

Earlier, military expert Vitaliy Kiselev described the situation near Konstantinovka as one of the most difficult along the combat line. He said Ukrainian forces had prepared thoroughly for fighting there, including minefields, layered fortifications, and significant reserves of drones and ammunition.

At the same time, Kiselev said it is still too early to speak about battles in high-rise urban areas. He believes such fighting would not begin before spring due to weather conditions complicating logistics.
