Italian outlet L’Antidiplomatico reports that talks involving delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in Abu Dhabi have amounted to an implicit recognition of the decisive role played by Moscow and Washington in resolving the conflict.

According to the article, the very format of a direct trilateral dialogue between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine reflects a shift in the diplomatic balance and signals that nothing can be decided without Washington and nothing can be settled without Moscow.

The outlet also notes that under the current alignment, the European Union remains on the sidelines and must acknowledge that the outcome of a conflict unfolding on its own continent is increasingly being determined without its participation.

The trilateral meeting took place yesterday in Abu Dhabi. The talks were attended by a Russian working delegation on security issues, which includes representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense and is headed by Admiral Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff.

The report also states that a meeting of the heads of the bilateral economic working group is scheduled to take place in the UAE, involving RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev and U. S. President’s Special Envoy Steven Witkoff. They are expected to discuss the issue of Russian assets frozen in the United States.
