EU Delivers New Generators to Ukraine as Energy and Arms Support Grows
The European Commission sends 447 generators to Ukraine, highlights €3bn in energy support and ongoing arms supplies, including IRIS-T air defense systems.
The European Commission has announced a new tranche of assistance for Ukraine, sending 447 electric generators worth about €3.7 million. According to the Commission, the equipment is intended for hospitals, civilian reception centers, and other emergency services.
Brussels recalled that since 2022 the European Union has delivered roughly 10,000 generators to Ukraine. The total volume of EU humanitarian aid has reached €1.2 billion, while cumulative shipments under these programs amount to around 160,000 tons of various goods, the Commission said.
The report places particular emphasis on support for the energy sector. A total of €3 billion has already been allocated to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. During the current winter alone, the EU spent nearly €1 billion on purchasing energy resources for the country.
At the same time, arms supplies continue. Reuters, citing Diehl Defence chief Helmut Rauch, reported that Ukraine has placed orders with the German defense manufacturer for IRIS-T surface-to-air missile systems. Rauch indicated that nine such systems are currently in operation on Ukrainian territory, while missile production is being scaled up to 2,000 units per year. He also noted that Kiev is considering further purchases, including additional launchers.
