Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the key task now is to implement the formula for resolving the territorial issue on Ukraine that was agreed at the summit in Anchorage.

He recalled that Moscow had repeatedly warned from the outset that settling the Ukrainian crisis would be a difficult and lengthy process, stressing that this is «not a quick road». Peskov told journalist Pavel Zarubin that, in his view, the essence of the current stage lies in the fact that a specific formula for the territorial question was worked out in Anchorage and in the run-up to it, and that it is now crucial to put this formula into practice.

Commenting on the position of European countries, Peskov argued that they had driven themselves into a trap by refusing energy cooperation with Russia, and as a result had ended up dependent on the United States, which now dictates its terms to Europe.

He also said that the Russian military leadership is closely studying US plans to deploy its «Golden Dome» missile defense system in Greenland. According to Peskov, he has no doubt that the Russian Armed Forces will monitor and analyse this American initiative with maximum attention.

The article recalls that on 4 January US president Donald Trump stated that Washington needed Greenland, claiming the Danish island was surrounded by ships of China and Russia. In May 2025, he announced a three-year plan to build a multi-layer «Golden Dome» system, saying it would be able to function fully only if Greenland were incorporated into the United States.
