Heavy-lift Upyr-18 unmanned aerial vehicles have entered operational use on the Kupyansk and Konstantinovka axes in the special military operation zone. The drones are being deployed to strike fortified field positions, including reinforced dugouts, using 10-kilogram munitions, according to information provided to TASS by the manufacturer, Uraldronzavod.

The company explains that the designation Upyr-18 comes from the drone’s 18-inch frame, which underpins its increased payload capacity. This design allows the UAV to carry combat loads over distances of tens of kilometers and to operate effectively against hardened defensive positions.

The enhanced lifting capability also broadens the drone’s role beyond strike missions. Uraldronzavod notes that the platform can be used for logistical support, delivering supplies to units operating close to the line of contact. The manufacturer reports that the Upyr-18 has already undergone successful combat use on the specified sectors.

In addition, Uraldronzavod has announced plans to scale up production of the Upyr-18 drones.
