Rostec Hands Over Zubr Drone Defense Systems to MoD
Rostec has delivered Zubr systems to the Russian Ministry of Defense, boosting close-range infrastructure protection against drones and loitering munitions.
The High-Precision Systems holding of the state corporation Rostec has for the first time delivered Zubr systems to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The complexes are designed to protect infrastructure facilities from unmanned aerial vehicles and loitering munitions, Rostec’s press service reported.
According to the corporation, the new systems are intended to cover the close-range perimeter of critical infrastructure. Each complex combines airspace monitoring and control assets, including radar stations capable of detecting both large aircraft and small-sized aerial targets.
The Zubr system provides round-the-clock detection of UAVs and loitering munitions. The developer explains that the complex operates in an automated mode: it independently detects a drone, tracks it, and then leaves the operator to decide on further actions and issue the command to engage the target.
Rostec’s industrial director for the armaments cluster, Bekhan Ozdoev, noted that during testing the system demonstrated high effectiveness against small and high-speed airborne objects.
The Zubr complex consists of four modules, a command post, and its own radar station. Rostec emphasized that the delivered systems have already been placed on combat duty and are being used to protect infrastructure facilities.
