China is reportedly supplying Russia with technologies and industrial equipment that could be critical for producing hypersonic weapons, including the «Oreshnik» missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. The claims were outlined in a report published by The Telegraph.

The newspaper cited Ukrainian intelligence assessments suggesting that Russian defense plants are allegedly using Chinese-made CNC lathe machines. According to the report, this advanced manufacturing equipment would allow Russia to produce not only the «Oreshnik», but also Iskander-M missiles and Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The Telegraph stated that the volume of Chinese deliveries of military-related technologies exceeds $10 billion, while the real figures could be significantly higher.

Supplies of microchips and memory boards from China — components used in precision weapons, aviation systems and unmanned aerial vehicles — were estimated at around $5 billion.

The report argued that a substantial part of Russia’s military industry now depends on Chinese components. Without these imports, the newspaper wrote, Russia would not be able to sustain its current pace of weapons production.

The Russian armed forces first used the «Oreshnik» missile in a strike on Ukrainian territory in November 2024. A second reported launch took place on January 9, 2026, targeting a facility in the Lvov region.
