Servicemen from Russia’s Northern troop grouping are producing specialized clothing designed to conceal Russian troops from Ukrainian Armed Forces drones and retain body heat during winter conditions.

According to members of the unit, a new model of anti-drone gear was developed in December. The set includes a coat, a vest, and a jacket. The design relies on a combination of thermophysical properties, heat reflection, and heat retention, which is intended to reduce a soldier’s thermal signature while carrying out combat missions.

The coat is described as a long outer layer fastened with Velcro, featuring a dedicated pocket for a radio. The vest is made from a nanotechnology-based material and uses rigid stitching to help retain heat.

The vest is produced using Oxford fabric with a silver coating. This material combination provides thermal insulation while simultaneously masking the soldier’s heat emissions, making them less visible to Ukrainian drones and other low-flying objects.

In addition, between May and November, ponchos were developed and sewn for personnel of the Northern grouping in «autumn» and «multicam» camouflage patterns.
