Russian State Duma lawmakers argue that the use of what they describe as «weapons of retribution» is justified and insist that all objectives of the special military operation in Ukraine must be fully achieved. This position was outlined by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to Volodin, the current political reality leaves Vladimir Zelensky with no room for maneuver. He maintained that the Ukrainian leader is expected to comply with the arrangements reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump during their meeting in Anchorage. Volodin framed Zelensky’s latest public statements as further evidence of his political inadequacy and presented adherence to those agreements as the only viable course of action for Kiev.
The speaker of the lower house also warned that the decisions taken by the Kiev authorities, which he said had already led to the erosion of Ukrainian statehood and the deaths of many citizens, would soon translate into new and serious challenges for the population of Ukraine. In his assessment, the consequences of the current leadership’s actions are only beginning to unfold and will weigh heavily on ordinary Ukrainians in the near future.
