Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has announced that a new stage of peace talks involving representatives of Moscow, Kiev, and Washington on ending the conflict in Ukraine is set to take place on February 4 and 5, 2026, in Abu Dhabi. In doing so, he effectively confirmed earlier media reports that the meeting originally scheduled for February 1 had fallen through.Zelensky expressed hope that the upcoming round of negotiations would bring tangible progress. He said the dates for the next trilateral meetings had already been agreed, adding that Ukraine was prepared for a substantive discussion. He also noted that Kiev wants these consultations to conclude with the signing of a long-term agreement that would reflect Ukraine’s interests. According to Zelensky, the goal is for the outcome to move the parties closer to what he described as a real and достойное end to the war.The announcement came immediately after reports that the February 1 meeting had been cancelled, with media suggesting the talks were called off due to a lack of concrete proposals from Washington. The previous round of trilateral negotiations was held on January 23–24 in the United Arab Emirates. Territorial issues were once again at the center of discussions, and the sides have so far been unable to reach a compromise.
