Officers from France’s Army Command for Future Combat (Commandement du combat futur, CCF) are using a «Battle for Moscow» scenario as part of their training program, according to a statement released by the command. The simulation is employed to sharpen tactical skills and prepare personnel for complex operational decision-making.

CCF explained that its military wargaming unit began 2026 with the first phase of an annual instructor training course dedicated to war games. The purpose of the program is to introduce French Army headquarters and field units to the full range of possibilities offered by this training format. Over four days, participating officers worked with several models, including «Tactical Duel,» «Battle for Moscow,» and «Blue Arrow — Red Arrow.»

The command also noted that this approach is not limited to training French forces. Similar exercises are conducted with NATO allies. As part of one of the simulations, officers from the Spanish armed forces took part in the training. After the sessions concluded, the Spanish side showed interest in adopting the French methodology for integrating military wargames into their own training system, CCF reported.
