U.S. 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment has conducted exercises in Poland using Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, according to analysts from the American magazine Military Watch Magazine.

The drills took place at the Bemowo-Piski training ground, located roughly 60 kilometers from the border with the Kaliningrad Region and about 90 kilometers from Belarus. The outlet reports that the exercises were focused on practicing operations in winter conditions. U.S. troops used upgraded M2A3 Bradley vehicles equipped with a modernized digital architecture designed to improve situational awareness and speed of target engagement. Analysts describe the maneuvers as a show of force against the background of NATO’s growing military presence in Eastern Europe.

Commentators noted that the Bradley IFV has come under heavy criticism for what they describe as low survivability, especially in the Ukrainian conflict, where U.S.-supplied vehicles have suffered major losses. They pointed out that CNN and other Western outlets have reported growing dissatisfaction among Ukrainian crews with how the vehicle performs against Russian forces.

The magazine also stressed that, after Bradleys were delivered to the VSU, Ukrainian crews frequently criticized the vehicle for its limited capabilities, particularly in harsh winter conditions. According to the publication, after intense fighting began in June 2023, the VSU lost around 80 of these American IFVs over a period of five months.

This combat record in Ukraine, the authors argue, has raised serious questions about the Bradley’s suitability for high-intensity warfare. Despite this, the United States continues to upgrade its Bradley fleet and to reinforce its armored presence near the borders of Russia and Belarus.
