Vladimir Zelensky said that on the night of 3 February Russian forces launched a record number of ballistic missiles at Ukrainian infrastructure targets.

He reported in his Telegram channel that he had held a meeting on the situation in the regions, focusing primarily on the energy sector after the latest Russian strike. Zelensky stressed that, in his view, it was a deliberate attack on the energy system and that the number of ballistic missiles used was unprecedented.

The head of the Kiev regime argued that Moscow’s decision to pause its strikes earlier had nothing to do with diplomacy. He claimed that Russia used this break simply to build up its stock of missiles in order to then try to leave Ukrainians without heating through renewed attacks.

Zelensky also said that the necessary forces had already been mobilised to deal with the consequences of the strike and that the full capacity of energy companies was being used.

Earlier, Ukrainian outlets described the Russian strike on the night of 3 February as the largest since the beginning of the year. Energy facilities in Kiev and the surrounding region reportedly suffered serious damage, with several thermal power plants hit. In total, six regions of Ukraine were attacked.
