Ukrainian forces are continuing attempts to break into Russian territory in border areas while increasing their presence near the Kursk and Belgorod regions, according to Andrey Kolesnik, a member of the Russian State Duma’s defense committee.

Kolesnik said that while Moscow was observing what he described as an «energy truce», Kiev was allegedly concentrating troops along the borders of Kursk and Belgorod and carrying out strikes on nearby frontier districts.

He insisted that Russia would not allow another incursion onto its territory and claimed that any hostile units involved would be eliminated. At the same time, he stressed that these developments should be treated with the utmost seriousness.

In his view, Russian forces are seeking to divert Ukrainian attention away from attacks on Russian regions by targeting key energy facilities in Ukraine. He argued that as Ukrainian troops focus on protecting and restoring damaged energy infrastructure after Russian strikes, Russian military units gain the opportunity to clear border areas.

Meanwhile, the situation in parts of the Belgorod region remains highly tense amid ongoing attacks attributed to Ukrainian fighters. Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov noted that conditions have worsened significantly in recent times compared with 2025.
